I vividly remember where I was sitting when we launched that Fall 2023 issue. I was in a coffee shop in Cedar City, Utah, attending the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) Trail Lab on behalf of Trail Builder Magazine. One of IMBA’s mottos is “more trails close to home.” It’s that topic that we write about in our latest zine. The title? “More Trails Close to Home.” What else?
As many of you know, Nacho was stolen and got thrashed … a messed up steering column, damaged center console, a broken window, a dented up door, and more. Even before the police found it, many of you reached out about Nacho and shared how you wanted to contribute to seeing the van restored to be fully operational (and serving coffee). Some started giving money, and others pledged without even asking.
2023 was a momentous year for me personally and for Loam Coffee. When I sold Loam back in 2020, I was excited and relieved. Those feelings slowly turned to mourning and loss.
