Nacho the Van has become a significant part of Loam Coffee. In fact, for many, Nacho is the face of Loam Coffee. Many cups of coffee have been served to trail builders and mountain bikers around the Pacific Northwest from inside Nacho.
Nacho is a 1995 Chevy Sportvan that was once used to transport college athletes around the PNW. We’re slowly converting it into the ultimate mountain bike/coffee/camper van to cater events and serve coffee.
As many of you know, Nacho was stolen and got thrashed … a messed up steering column, damaged center console, a broken window, a dented up door, and more. Even before the police found it, many of you reached out about Nacho and shared how you wanted to contribute to seeing the van restored to be fully operational (and serving coffee). Some started giving money, and others pledged without even asking.
We kept telling everyone to wait until we got the estimate and response from our insurance. The quote came in, and the repair estimate was more than Nacho's value. We were upfront with the insurance and the auto body shop throughout the process … we intend to keep Nacho. What the insurance is giving us will not cover the cost of repairs. Since many of you wanted to help, we’re giving you two primary ways to contribute.
What repair costs will this cover? Beyond what we mentioned above, some of the costs will also cover replacing the roof rack, retractable awning, tires, an alarm system, and some of the interior cosmetics.
1. Donate through our GoFundMe link.
2. Buy Nacho merch and coffee (below). 100% of the profits will go towards Nacho's repairs.
Thank you all for your concern. It’s been humbling and encouraging. Thank you.
