What Should Your New Year's Resolution Be?

We all are creatures of habit. Sometimes those habits are good, but we tend to notice them when they are bad. Maybe not "bad" as in "really bad," but we definitely know areas in our lives where we're mailing it in. Perhaps we're even lazy in those areas as well. So why bring this up? What does this have to do with coffee?

Overcoming Cold Coffee at the Trailhead

Often, we’re traveling quite a ways to a trailhead to ride. It could be anywhere from 1-2 hours away (or more). What that also means is we’re not in a hurry. We’ve committed a whole day to ride and being with friends in the outdoors. So why should we settle for cold coffee at the trailhead?

Coffee on the Go

So much of my life revolves around coffee. Even without thinking about it, I orient my daily routine around it. The first thing that I do every morning is to brew a cup of coffee using an Aeropress or make a pourover. Later on, I’ll make a manual brew cortado at home with my Rok. Because of its compact size and carrying case, the Nanopresso is perfect for life on the go. You can easily toss it into a bag. All you need is coffee (like our Trail Builders Blend), a hand grinder, the ability to heat water to 212F, and you have everything you need to brew espresso anywhere and everywhere you go. At $79.90 USD it won’t break the bank either.

Home Brewing with the Kalita Wave

As much as I love and look forward to brewing coffee early in the morning next to a campfire or even at a trailhead before I ride, most often when I am making coffee it is at home. Usually my first cup is brewed before the sun is up. With my eyes still blurry it would seem that the wisest thing to do would be to click a button and poof … coffee pours out of some contraption and into my cup. But for me, it’s a process. One that I love too. Not only that, but the process includes regularly experimenting with new ways to brew coffee.
