There are a myriad of ways to brew and enjoy coffee … pourover, aeropress, moka pot, drip, French press, and so many more. What’s the best one? Easy. The one you enjoy the most.
Coffee is subjective. We all have our favorites whether it is a region where the coffee is grown (Ethiopia, Colombia, etc), the flavor profile (fruity, nutty, etc), or how it is roasted (light, medium, etc). So often in our emails we get asked questions about these. Coffee is complex. Even more complex are the humans who drink coffee and everyones’ personal preferences.
So when it comes to how you should brew your coffee, well, finding the best brew method is about you. Your tastes, preferences, knowledge, and even where you’re going to drink it. That’s why we love writing articles about various brew methods.
Of all of the ways to make coffee and the various devices to do so, the Wacaco Nanopresso stands out. Not only is it a lot of fun, but it looks the part and it does a decent job of getting you espresso on the go. No, nothing can compare to espresso that comes out of a $5K-$25K machine, but this moves us in that direction.
One of my go-to drinks this past year has been the cortado. No, it’s not quite the drink to be made either at a trailhead or camp site, but with the Nanopresso I have the ability to make espresso wherever I go. (Steaming milk is a whole different conversation.) I’ve now had the Nanopresso for a couple years now and have used it innumerable times. It’s fun, easy, and delivers a great shot of espresso on the go.
While designed to take anywhere, most often I’ve used the Nanopress at home, particularly before I had my own espresso machine. It takes up almost no space which is an added bonus. Between an espresso machine, a grinder, and some kind of automatic dripper your counter can get pretty cluttered. With the Nanopresso there is no clutter.
I do have an automatic dripper that can brew up to 3 cups at a time, but 99% of the time I opt for manual brew methods. I love the process. It’s part of my routine whether I’m using an aeropress, Chemex, or Kalita Wave. There’s something about the time and routine I thoroughly enjoy first thing in the morning. Making espresso with the Nanopresso is an enjoyable manual brew method.
Because of its compact size and carrying case, the Nanopresso is perfect for life on the go. You can easily toss it into a bag. All you need is coffee (like our Trail Builders Blend), a hand grinder, the ability to heat water to 212F, and you have everything you need to brew espresso anywhere and everywhere you go. At $79.90 USD it won’t break the bank either.
Truth be told I have 2 Wacaco Nanopressos and 1 Minipresso at home. I absolutely love them. With the added Barista Kit ($29.90) I can brew even more espresso with its larger water tank and espresso basket.
If you’re looking for some good ‘spro on the go then look no further. The Wacaco Nanopresso is everything you need and want.
