While "local" is a hot buzzword it can be a bit deceiving. We love our local coffee shops, local restaurants, local bike shops, and so on. But in a truly globalized world the word local is often misleading and misunderstood. What even does local mean?
Is Loam Coffee a local roaster based out of Portland? Yes, but we're hardly local. (We even have part of our team in 2 states and in 2 countries). The coffee you sip on from us in the morning originated from truly local places ... San Iganicio in Peru, Huila in Colombia, or coffee from the Tarrazu Valley in Costa Rica. Hand-picked by local farmers and eventually sent out to port cities in the U.S. like Oakland to Seattle and so on. Eventually this coffee makes its way to us where we roast it, package it, and turn around and ship it back out ... to California, Oklahoma, British Columbia, or elsewhere like Sweden, New Zealand, Austria, Germany, or even back to Peru.
We have the data and know that most of you who follow, support, buy our coffee and merchandise, and interact with us are not from Portland let alone Oregon. During the course of some months nearly half of our orders are shipped outside the U.S. to Canada, the U.K., Norway, Australia, and the like. While we're about all-things local here in Portland we also strive to be accessible to you wherever you live.
This past week we rolled out something brand new to accommodate international orders. We've done enough of these shipments to know what's the best bang for your buck when it comes to shipping costs, the number of bags per shipment, and so on.
We're calling it our "International 3-Pack Bundle." Three of our 8oz bags of your choice plus shipping included in the price for $45.00 (USD). And when you order the bundle we can also accommodate international payments (in other words, payments from outside the US). Our goal is to streamline this to make it easier for you.
We want to take a moment again to thank you all. You've made (and are making) Loam Coffee into what it is. Thank you for the photos, shoutouts, tags, hashtags, and love. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
