Rolling out the Summer 2023 LOAM Zine
It’s only been a little over a week since returning from attending Mountain Bike Oregon (MBO) down in Oakridge. The itching and oozing poison oak wounds on my leg remind me of such a spectacular time. While I went on behalf of Trail Builder Magazine, I brought plenty of Loam Coffee to drink every morning inside Nacho the Van.
At the end of each day, I’d make my way back to Nacho, pull up a stool in my mobile creative studio, and begin importing and editing photos from the day’s adventures and festivities. This trip was a reminder that summer is finally here. Warm temps. Sunshine. Trails that are becoming dusty. However, these are the days we live for, especially in February when we live under a canopy of clouds, rain, and darkness.
Welcome to the Summer issue of LOAM Zine!
Developing this little zine has become a fun and creative project. I’m debating whether to turn it in to print. Maybe someday. Until then, it’s a unique free gift to give away. So what can you expect in this latest quarterly issue?
In the first article, I share more about the intentional move towards Loam Coffee thinking and operating like a social enterprise. What is a social enterprise, you might ask? Well, you’ll have to read the article to find out. In a nutshell, I will continue to lean into our mission that is spelled out in this zine.
Next, I’m excited to share the various new programs and partnerships we’re rolling out. This, by far, has been one of the most enjoyable parts of running Loam Coffee ... all of the relationships that turn into friendships and partnerships. Life is better in community, and I’m eager to let you know what we’ve been working on.
“Why Coffee and Mountain Biking Are Meant to Be Together“ is a personal reflection about why and how coffee and mountain biking go hand-in-hand. Lastly, our final article is about a brew method. There are countless ways to brew and enjoy coffee. I am looking forward to sharing with you about the Kalita Wave. Let’s do this!
