Bikepacking with the AeroPress Travel Kit

I’m always looking for different ways to brew coffee, whether at home, on the trail, or on a gravel road. When I go gravel riding, I usually bring along a different way to brew coffee. Why? I’m not only trying to dial in my favorite, but I like using other brew methods.

I suppose there’s no such thing as my “favorite” way to brew coffee as I love mixing things up. Maybe what I’m looking for is the most convenient? Simplist? Easiest?

Several months ago, before the hot part of the summer hit, I tossed the AeroPress travel kit in my bike and headed out for a gravel ride. A day trip. Nothing overnight.

I was set between how compact the AeroPress travel kit was and my Jetbol. Together they don’t take up that much room, meaning all I needed to do was bring water, coffee, and a coffee grinder.

While this ride took place in early June, it is refreshing to look back and see photos of riding in rain gear and cooler temps. Once July hit, it’s been a hot and dry summer here in the Northwest. Even today, the skies are an ominous orange as the high winds push wildfire smoke into the region.

While I’ve written on the AeroPress numerous times before, using it again was a reminder of how basic and convenient it is. Since it’s designed to be compact and fit everything into one unit, it makes for a convenient way to brew coffee while out on the trail or gravel riding.

The AeroPress travel kit is a great way to start if you’re still undecided about what brew method to use. You won’t regret it.
